The first word I learned to say is guaita. My paternal grandmother would take me for a walk in the trolley, and as we wandered around she would point at things with her finger and say: “Guaita Laia, guaita!”. She spoke a particular Catalan, she would say guaita instead of mira (look at). Guaitar means to watch carefully, analysing what is observed. Vigilant. Jo guaito 👀️

EXHIBITION, INSTALLATION, GATHERING, OLIVE OIL TASTING

BARCELONA

2024

I organised a little gathering to show my work and taste the olive oil I make with my dad. It was a great opportunity to arrange narratives, and it made it obvious that repetition is a methodology and that the elements (water, fire, air, earth, aether) are ritualistically present, two aspects I didn’t think about before (!). This exercise exposed a colour palette and posited unexpected themes beyond-but-still-related-to algorithms and surveillance, which have always been intentional.

These are all pics that people send to me. I am very bad at reporting, thank you friends for the images!
